Prefácio

Este manuscrito encontra-se na Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal, com a cota C.I.C. 110, tendo feito anteriormente parte do espólio de Ivo Cruz (1901–1985).

A cópia realizada para esta edição seguiu a mesma ordem do manuscrito.

O texto musical que se encontra entre parênteses retos é da autoria do revisor, uma vez que se considera estar em falta no manuscrito original. Foram também corrigidos e acrescentados alguns acidentes ocorrentes.

A Tocata 21 encontra-se repetida três vezes ao longo do manuscrito: a primeira e a segunda são rascunhos incompletos, e a terceira é considerada por nós a versão definitiva.

Nesta edição encontram-se, respetivamente:

• Tocata 21, na página 78;

• Tocata [21], na página 126;

• Tocata [21], na página 136.

A última Tocata não está numerada no manuscrito: Tocata [45].

Preface

This manuscript is held at the National Library of Portugal, under the reference C.I.C. 110, and was formerly part of the collection of Ivo Cruz (1901–1985).

The copy prepared for this edition follows the same order as the original manuscript.

The musical text enclosed in square brackets was added by the editor, as it is believed to be missing from the original source. Some accidentals have also been corrected or added where necessary.

Toccata 21 appears three times throughout the manuscript: the first and second are incomplete drafts, and the third is considered to be the final version.

In this edition, they appear respectively as:

• Toccata 21, on page 78;

• Toccata [21], on page 126;

• Toccata [21], on page 136.

The final Toccata is not numbered in the manuscript: Toccata [45].

Ce manuscrit est conservé à la Bibliothèque nationale du Portugal sous la cote C.I.C. 110, et faisait autrefois partie de la collection d’Ivo Cruz (1901–1985).

La copie réalisée pour cette édition a suivi le même ordre que le manuscrit original.

Le texte musical figurant entre crochets est de l’éditeur, car il semble manquer dans le manuscrit. Certains accidents ont également été corrigés ou ajoutés.

La Toccata 21 est répétée trois fois dans le manuscrit : les deux premières sont des ébauches incomplètes, et la troisième est considérée comme la version définitive.
